European Standard Yacht Crew Course Curriculum

1. Course Overview

The Yacht Crew Course is designed to prepare candidates for employment on luxury yachts worldwide. Yacht course is developed according to European yacht industry standards (aligned with MCA, STCW, and IYT guidelines) and focuses on developing professional skills, safety awareness, hospitality excellence, and technical competence.

Duration: 8–12 weeks (theory + practice + onboard simulation)

2. Curriculum Structure

Module 1 – Introduction to Yachting (European Standards)

  • Housekeeping: European housekeeping standards (linen, cabin, guest areas).

  • Laundry & garment care for luxury fabrics.

  • Table service: silver service, butler service, barista basics.

  • Wine, champagne & spirit service (European standards).

  • Guest etiquette and cross-cultural hospitality.

Module 4 – Galley & Food Safety

  • Food handling hygiene (EU Food Safety Standard HACCP).

  • Introduction to European cuisines & fine dining.

  • Wine & beverage pairing techniques.

  • Galley hygiene and storage management.

Module 5 – Deckhand & Exterior Maintenance

  • Yacht exterior cleaning & polishing techniques.

  • Line handling, knot tying, anchoring, and docking.

  • Tender driving & water sports equipment handling.

  • Safety checks for exterior operations.

  • Basic navigation and watchkeeping duties.

Module 6 – Spa & Guest Wellness (Optional specialization)

Module 7 – Communication & Guest Relations

  • Professional communication in English.

  • Handling guest requests and complaints.

Module 8 – Yacht Regulations & Documentation

  • Understanding maritime labor conventions (MLC 2006).

  • Crew contracts, rights & obligations.

  • Passport, visa, and seafarer’s documents.

Module 9 – Onboard Simulation & Final Assessment

  • Role-play scenarios (guest handling, service delivery, safety drills).

  • Practical deck & interior duties on a yacht.

3. Certification Awarded

Upon completion, participants will receive:

  1. STCW 2010 Certificate (mandatory for all yacht crew).
